Stone Thread Studio

Photography by Marra Vestal

Pictures that stay
quiet and stay true.

A small studio photographing weddings, portraits and family milestones in natural light — unhurried, lightly directed, and edited to look like the day felt.

The approach

I photograph the in-between, not the pose.

I work close and quietly. Most of a day passes with me a few steps back, watching for the small gestures people forget they make — then a short window of gentle direction when the light is worth it. You are never asked to perform.

  • OneA single photographer, start to finish. You always know who is in the room.
  • TwoNatural light first, with soft fill only when a room gives me nothing.
  • ThreeWarm, restrained editing. No trend filters, nothing you will date in five years.

Sessions

Three ways to work together.

Every booking is shaped around your day, so treat these as starting points rather than fixed packages.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Do you travel for weddings?

Gladly. Anything within a couple of hours of the studio is included; further afield I add travel and a night's accommodation at cost, quoted before you book.

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples reach out nine to twelve months before the date, though short-notice weekends do open up. Portrait and family sittings usually need two to three weeks' notice.

When do we see the photographs?

A small preview set lands within a week so you have something to share straight away. The complete gallery follows within six weeks for weddings, and two weeks for shorter sessions.

Can we order prints?

Yes. Every gallery includes print-ready files, and I can arrange fine art prints and a linen-bound album through the studio's printer if you would rather not handle it yourself.

What holds the date?

A signed agreement and a deposit of a quarter of the total. Until both arrive the date stays open to other enquiries — I will always tell you if someone else is asking about it.

Enquire

Tell me about the day.

A date, a place and a sentence or two is plenty to start. I answer every enquiry personally, usually within two working days, with availability and full rates.
